A NEW BIKE FOR CLASSIC RIDES

The Caledonia is the bike we keep reaching for when we know the odometer’s going well past the triple digit mark. Long rides invariably have some smooth tarmac, some junk pavement over backroads, a cutty singletrack connector, and maybe even your own local Strade Bianche sector. So we built a bike that could take on all of them, do it well, and fit fenders in case the ominous clouds turn into a downpour 130km into your day.
We don’t see road bikes as delicate machines meant only for putting watts into and receiving speed from. They’re an extension of our soul, of the way we want to see our worlds, and the lives we want to live. Sometimes that means cutting across park grass, and sometimes it’s seeing where that dirt road off to the left leads you. The Caledonia-5 is a bike for the modern road rider.
Features:
  • Cervelo Caledonia 5 Frame: The Cervelo Caledonia 5 is a high-performance road bike designed for endurance riding. It typically features a carbon fiber frame that combines stiffness and compliance, with a geometry suited for comfort on long rides.
  • SRAM Red eTap AXS Groupset: SRAM Red eTap AXS is a top-tier electronic groupset known for its wireless shifting technology. It provides precise and reliable shifting with a clean and uncluttered appearance. The "Special Edition" might include unique color schemes or design elements specific to the edition.
  • Profile Design GMR 38 Wheels: The Profile Design GMR 38 wheels are likely a mid-depth carbon wheelset. These wheels can provide a good balance of aerodynamics, weight, and stability. The 38mm depth is versatile, suitable for a range of road conditions.

WORLD TOUR INSPIRED

We developed the Caledonia-5 in collaboration with Team Sunweb to satisfy the need for a dedicated cobbles bike. Keep your eyes peeled at the Monuments.

RACE-BRED

Faster handling isn’t necessarily better—we engineered the handling based on the specific use-case. In this case it’s Roubaix. Roubaix is harder on bikes than any other race on the calendar, and there’s zero margin for error. We increased the rear center (compare this to the R3 that was raced last year), lowered the BB, and increased the trail. The handling is still fast, but we’ve added stability.

INSPIRING & REFINED

This is a race bike—it was designed for and will be used as our teams’ Roubaix bike. Rather than designing multiple versions of the bike with various fit profiles (R5, R-Series, etc.) like we’ve done in the past, we designed a system that enables a broad range of fits on a single bike while maintaining the aesthetic and functional cleanliness we demand.

STABLE, CAREFREE, AND CONFIDENT

We’ve stayed away from compliance gimmicks; no elastomers or funky tube intersections. Our proven library of tube shapes is at the core of every bike we design, and these tube shapes all have different known attributes.

You can’t cheat physics. Triangulation and the force required to deflect is at the heart of the ‘double-diamond’ frame design, and has been since the safety bicycle’s inception. We know how our tube shapes behave, and it’s a matter of placing them in a layout that achieves the desired compliance based on that deflection. The simplest solution is almost always the best.
